To be successful at supporting students' growth, educators need training on more than just math content. They also need to know how to react to errors, how to identify and address their own biases, how to build relationships with learners, how to use technology successfully, and much more! Our training is personalized for each mentor and addressed all the competencies a mentor needs to be successful. We offer upfront training at the start of a semester as well as continued on the job training through our growing library of asynchronous lessons in the PLUS web app.

Results indicate tutors are learning from our brief, scenario-based lessons with tutors performing an average of 20% better on posttest compared to pretest.
When the Tutor Becomes the Student: Design and Evaluation of Efficient Scenario-based Lessons for Tutors
These results also guided the creation of a preliminary super-competency scheme through the creation of SMART supports. Such schematic recategorization of mentor super-competencies will improve mentor training and optimize their efficiency in helping students with particular barriers to learning.
An Evaluation of Perceptions Regarding Mentor Competencies for Technology-based Personalized Learning
The first solution is PL2 Training, which contains the resource library discussed previously and also houses asynchronous lessons for on-demand and as-needed access by mentors...The second solution, PL2 Toolkit, repackages student EdTech status features, goal setting, and recommended resources allowing mentors to personalize the learning experience for their students.
Scenario-based Training and On-the-Job Support for Equitable Mentoring
Analysis of earlier lessons has shown some evidence of mentor learning in pre-post prediction with substantial improvement in pre-post mentor explanation ability. This evidence supports our hypothesis that short, scenario-based lessons can have a positive impact on mentor learning of how to attend to student self-efficacy.
